Meeting Room / Restroom Project - Campaign Focus The Institute of Museum and Library Services funded a Conservation Assessment Program survey of Kimberly Crest in 2000. Based on the surveyors recommendations to limit use, and to provide visitors with a more enjoyable experience, the KSA Board approved the construction of a new building. The KSA Building and Equipment Committee is working with Redlands contractor Dick Burkhart to design and build a functional and compatible facility consistent with the historical character of Kimberly Crest. The much needed facility will provide a room for meetings, classes, and training, as well as modern restroom facilities. The structure will be located east of the house and set back into the orange grove. The estimated cost of the facility is $125,000. |

Carriage House Restoration Project Built in 1897, the Kimberly Crest Carriage House is the perfect companion to the main house with its French chateau inspired architecture, decorative plaster dormer inserts, tower, and saw tooth shingles. Little has been changed in 104 years. It was used as a stable, carriage house, and garage. A recently completed Conditions Assessment of the Carriage House by the architectural firm of Milford Wayne Donaldson, FAIA identified, prioritized and recommended improvements based on accepted historic preservation practices and standards. The restoration will include foundation stabilization, re-roofing, painting, stucco repair, updating electrical and plumbing systems at an estimated cost of $250,000. |
